Today, I will look at Step 1 in living your passion/purpose: Be True to Yourself
Have you found your passion? Are you doing what you love? When you look in the mirror, do you like who is looking at you?
Be true to yourself; it sounds like a slogan from the Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts of America but is it just a trite saying or do you need to reflect on these words? As you look at the words themselves- Be True to Yourself, you can ask yourself if you are following your dream or someone else’s? Are you doing what is expected of you because of family tradition or expectations? Are you in college courses because society says that one needs a “good education” or are you more interested in entrepreneurial ventures that requires an idea, confidence and determination?
What are you willing to risk to follow your dream? The answer to this question requires you to step away from the crowd and stand alone. It requires you to know who you are in relation to your God and in every other aspect of your life.
To Be True to Yourself requires you to pull back from the fast pace of your life and to become intimate with your own thinking apart from all of the distractions that come at you. It requires courage and faith. These two things can bring you to Step Two: Act from your truth. I will talk about this tomorrow.
In faith and love,
